Prepare for an onslaught of artist’s links… because I went to a gallery today with Hellen and we saw Kevin Llewelyn, David Choong Lee, Kim Cogan, Sam Flores, Bigfoot One, and others painting live. It gave me an artboner so large that it blotted out the sun. And then this Spartan dude was all like “Then we shall fight in the shade!” No, but seriously, it was inspiring.
I downloaded a trial version of Painter, finally. I like it! I’m going to try and use it as much as I can before the trial runs out…
Many thanks to Rickard Westman for letting me know that Super PLAY magazine (Sweden) used my Cave Story pic in an article about the game. They didn’t ask for permission and quite frankly I don’t care. Not that you shouldn’t ask me for permission before putting my artwork somewhere. You asshole.
Lastly but not leastly, Alec has put together a small teaser video for Aquaria that you can check out here! It shows some of the gameplay from the first part of the game. I know some of you were wondering what the game looked like in motion, so even though it’s just a teeny tiny glimpse of the game, I hope it satisfies somewhat.
You’ll recall that we decided to invest in some voice acting for the game. The actress’s name is Jenna Sharpe and the voice over the trailer is hers. Considering most games have terrible voice acting (including most commercial titles), I wasn’t very optimistic about finding someone suitable. Even if it’s a little off, it could potentially derail the entire game. Thankfully, Jenna is first rate! We fucking lucked out, let me tell you…

Have you said if you’re going to do a demo or not? I’ll be buying it regardless but a pre-release demo would be neat.

I dont have the trial version, but in the full version you get the choice of Acrylics. If you choose that, small round brush, black, it does a pretty nice looking “ink” job.

Aw man, that magazine thing is a bummer. If they’d asked, it would have been something to be really proud of, but since they didn’t it becomes kind of crappy…
Still, I don’t see how they could have a high-resoloution version of it. Which means they probably printed the version of it on the site. So it probably came out all pixelly. HAH! A small victory.

About the magazine, the CC license here says you don’t have to ask as long as you mention who created the original work (Attribution) and you don’t use it for commercial purposes (Noncommercial). I don’t know if they mention who made the picture somewhere, but I don’t think Super PLAY magazine (Sweden) is a noncommercial magazine.
You should sue them as soon as you get rich, Derek.

@Raincoatduck: I’m not sure if the demo’s going to be released *before* the full game, but we’ll definitely have a demo. I wouldn’t expect someone to buy a game without being able to try it out first.

Ah, I finally got why I am really against the voice acting thing.
Although this won’t change anything,
it’s just that in my mind I’ve always enjoyed the classic retro games from you.
Now that you’re getting into voice acting and all that, it just seems odd.
